 CHICAGO, IL - 05.05.2005

J. Paul Beitler, President of Beitler Real Estate Corporation was honored Wednesday evening with the “Arthur Rubloff Humanitarianism Award,” sponsored by the Chicago Chapter of The Anti-Defamation League. The award dinner in Mr. Beitler’s honor, held at the Museum of Science and Industry, featured Master of Ceremonies, Bill Kurtis and guest speaker Paul Rusesabagina, accompanied by his wife Tatiana. Mr. Rusesabagina is the real life hero for whom the Oscar nominated movie Hotel Rwanda was produced.

The ADL Arthur Rubloff Humanitarianism Award has been established to recognize individuals in the real estate industry who demonstrate exceptional commitment to philanthropy, and who regard responsibility for the well-being of the community as among the most cherished rights and privileges of citizenship.

During his career, Paul Beitler has successfully developed over 11 million square feet of Class A office space, including some of the highest profile office buildings in Chicago. In addition to development, Paul with CSFB as his financial partner successfully acquired five of the six buildings in the Chicago portfolio of Helmsley-Spear in 1998. This transaction is the largest “portfolio” acquisition in the City’s history. Mr. Beitler went on to restore three of the more notable buildings to their original splendor, resulting in numerous architectural and civic awards. More recently, Paul, along with his financial partner Prime Group Realty Trust, developed Dearborn Center (“Bank One Corporate Center”), a 1.8 million square foot office building in the Chicago Loop. Paul negotiated the lease negotiations with Bank One, resulting in the signing of the largest office lease in multi-use building in the history of the City.

J. Paul Beitler is active with many prominent civic, cultural and business institutions. While on the Board of Trustees for the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, he served as Chairman of the Building Committee that was in charge of the development of the new Museum on North Michigan Avenue. He also developed the Chicago Vietnam Veterans Art Museum. He has served on the Illinois Aeronautics Commission and as a Director on the Capital Development Board, which handles all of the State of Illinois’ properties. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Science and Industry, is a member of the Architecture Committee of the Art Institute of Chicago and is on the International Board of Directors for the Frederic Remington Art Museum in New York. Mr. Beitler is an Advisory Board Member for Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management Center for Real Estate Research, is a founding member of Michigan State University’s Real Estate Collaboratory Program, and is a volunteer at Children’s Memorial Hospital.
